Artists, and creative people: read this "Letter to Fear" by E. Gilbert
What is Wabi Sabi?
It is a Japanese phrase and concept dating back many centuries. Imperfection is the basic principle of Wabi-Sabi. “Wabi” is said to be defined as “rustic simplicity” and “Sabi” is translated to “taking pleasure in the imperfect.”
I chose this Japanese phrase for my studio because of the old barn that is part of my studio, but also Wabi Sabi is a perfect name for the creating we do. The process of art making can be messy and imperfect. I also love that Wabi Sabi is also about accepting our beautiful imperfect selves with love and reverence.
Here is a short video about the concept of Wabi Sabi if you want to know more.
